About the Author

People asked Lavon Silverthorn where she got the idea for making Windfish™. The bud of her craft initially came from a crudely cut and constructed bottle fish bought at a garage sale. It did not track well in the wind and was relocated for years to the basement to one of those boxes that hold unknown contents.

Then during a particularly bad Wyoming winter, with nothing better to do, she went in search of the long-forgotten bottle fish. That was over ten years ago, with over ten years of evolving changes. Somewhere in there Lavon's grand-daughters, Jessica and Allison, gave it the name "Windfish™". Now her Windfish™ are constantly being updated with new tail cuts and new painting methods.

Lavon Silverthorn has cut hundreds, if not thousands, of Windfish™ for painting classes in schools, senior centers, nursing homes and garden clubs, also community events in both Wyoming and Washington. People of all ages love painting their Windfish™, and every single one is different.
